The veteran goalscoring centre-forward, unfortunately only played 6 games for Leicester when they signed him from Aston Villa. Billy had, had and illustrious career with one of England's greatest club's and he was signed to augment their First Division position in the 1908 season. Billy could hardly be said to be over the hill when signed as his twenty two goals in 59 games fot West Bromwhich Albion would atnd the wisdom of Fosse letting him go (at £270, representing £20 profit) has to be questioned in view of their subsequent nosedive to relegation. They had lost only once with Billy in the side, despite his own inability to get off the scoring mark. His debut for Fosse was on 12.9.1908 and against against Bristol City.
